Butterflyfishes as Indicators of Change on Indo-Pacific Reefs

A workshop was held on October 5, 1997 at the Hawai'i Preparatory Academy in Waimea, Hawai'i to train a wide variety of coral reef researchers on the uses of butterfly fish abundance and behavior to monitor the health of coral reefs. The workshop was led by Dr. Crosby and Dr. Reese and was attended by a very diverse group of people. Participants included faculty and students from:
  • Hawai'i Preparatory Academy
  • Parker School
  • West Hawai'i Exploratory Academy
  • University of Hawai'i at Manoa
  • University of Hawai'i at Hilo

as well as personnel from the State Division of Aquatic Resources, the Kona Reefers, and Dive Makai Charters. The workshop was introduced by Rep. Dave Tarnas
